In the past, veterinarians have chosen to study this course to challenge themselves and to gain important knowledge to help with preparations for membership exams to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, or to facilitate a high level of quality service to their clients. By completing this course, you can become a more confident and competent equine veterinarian.

By participating in this course, you can expect to:

  • improve your skills in developing a problem-based approach to equine medicine
  • receive up-to-date information on common problems in equine medicine
  • gain an improved appreciation of the value of laboratory procedures when approaching horses with medical problems

Tutor

Dr Cathy McGowan
BVSc DipVetClinStud MACVSc DEIM MILT PhD

Cathy has worked in practice in Australia and in university referral hospitals in Australia and the United Kingdom and is a diplomate of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) in equine internal medicine. Cathy is now at the University of Helsinki, Finland, in a clinical academic role and head of equine medicine. Cathy has a special interest in endocrine laminitis and muscle disease, but enjoys all aspects of equine medicine.
