Ophthalmology 2009
with Dr Robin Stanley
February 2009
Do you have problems managing eye cases?
Do you want to develop an effective treatment plan for your patient?
Ophthalmology is one of those subjects you cannot learn at University or from a book. You really need to see cases in order to work out what is happening in those eyes. The aim of this course is to help practicing vets handle those eye cases with confidence. The emphasis is on presenting symptoms, so the course is presented in ten monthly modules, each dealing with a presenting complaint, for example vision loss, red eye, sore eye.
Many photos of cases are presented on CD ROM throughout the modules and you will work through case studies given with the help of the tutor.
The course was rewritten in 2004 including new videos taken at Animal Eye Care of common eye problems and also of surgeries. Participants are also encouraged to spend time at the tutor's practice.
This course combines both old and new learning methods. You will receive a combination of course notes and references, along with CD ROMs and other learning material. The CVE will also provide an online email discussion forum where you can acquire extra material and interact with other vets who have similar interests.
Whether you are in general, equine or small animal practice, ophthalmology is a common and constant part of your daily work. You will discover a whole new world of enjoyment and professional fulfillment through a year of study with one of the world's best tutors. Dr Stanley makes it all seem so easy as he has the ability to clarify and simplify ophthalmology for you.
By participating in this course, you can expect to:
- improve your diagnostic skills via case-based learning
- gain a greater understanding of the medications used to treat eye problems
- become more familiar with the anatomy of the eye
- gain greater confidence in handling ophthalmology cases
- learn management methods for a variety of presenting problems
- interact with other vets who have similar interests in ophthalmology
