By participating in this course, you can expect to:

  • update your knowledge with a comprehensive overview of small animal surgery
  • improve your approach to the diagnosis and management of surgical diseases
  • help you to understand the 'how's?' and 'why's?' of surgery through case-based learning
  • help you to gain an increased understanding of both general principles and detailed techniques of surgery for each of the body systems

  • establish a library of surgical procedures on video which can be used to 'brush up' before performing a particular procedure

Dr Wing Tip Wong
DVM MVS MACVSc (Surgery)

Dr Wing Tip WongWing Tip has spent most of his time as a clinician and teacher. He worked for several years in private practice in Malaysia and returned to the University of Melbourne in 1988 to work at the Veterinary Clinic and Hospital. From 1999 he spent 14 months as staff surgeon in private referral practice. Currently he is consultant surgeon (orthopaedics and neurosurgery) in the Veterinary Clinic and Hospital as well as senior fellow in the Department of Veterinary Science, University of Melbourne.

Dr Glenn Edwards
BVSc MACVSc (Surgery)

Dr Glenn EdwardsGlenn Edwards is associate professor in small animal surgery at the School of Veterinary Science, University of Melbourne teaching all aspects of small animal surgery, but has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery.

He has extensive collaborative research interests in biomaterial development, including artificial hearts, vascular prostheses and stents, wound management and urinary tract conditions.
