Rabbit Anaesthetics

Rabbit anesthetics are often considered challenging and have the reputation for being unsuccessful and difficult.

The success of a rabbit anesthetic rests on planning, monitoring and additional supportive treatments as well as choosing the most appropriate anesthetic agents for the individual rabbit.

This lecture will  outline easy and affordable techniques to allow you to standardize your rabbit anesthetics.  We will discuss and provide alternatives and protocols allowing your team to confidently respond to various anesthetic events.

Narelle Walter grew up in the Western District of Victoria and studied at University of Melbourne, graduating as a vet in 1996. She initially worked in mixed practice in Australia and the United Kingdom before turning her interest towards small herbivores. Narelle has been working solely with rabbits and guinea pigs since 2005. Narelle has a keen interest in promoting rabbit care and has lectured in Australia and overseas to vet students, vets and others in the animal industry. Narelle has two cranky rabbits, Ash and Mr Cuddles, and also shares her home with cats, dogs, chickens, goats, goldfish, a guinea pig, and her husband and two children.
