Q How do I obtain access to the VetMed Resource database?
A If your membership is eligible, your access will be directly available when you sign into your account. Otherwise log on directly to VetMed Resource when prompted with your CVE login from the CVE site. It is recommended that you use Firefox (available as a free download) to use VetMed Resource.
Q Can I still access the Cab Abstracts and Medline through the CVE?
A The Ovid service is no longer accessible through the CVE website.

Distance Education answers
Do I receive complimentary membership of the CVE if I am a Distance Education student?
From 2010 those enrolling as Distance Education (DE) participants will receive complimentary Affiliate level CVE membership.
Do I obtain a degree qualification at the completion of a Distance Education course?
At the completion of a one of our Distance Education Programs, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. At the moment our Distance Education Programs do not carry a qualification.
How do I register for a Distance Education program?
To register for a Distance Education program, select your preferred course, making sure you read the course information first. It is very important that you make sure the requirements of the course suit you and that you have enough time to complete the course. You can register online or offline. Why do I have to become a Member of the CVE before I can register for a Distance Education course?
As a result of the implementation of our new systems and online services, for example, discussion groups, we require that each individual participant of Distance Education be a Member. Members of the Centre for Veterinary Education receive access to the databases, CAB Abstracts and Medline, via the CVE website. Both these databases will be of use to course participants. (You can join or renew your membership here.)
The course I would like to do is full, can I be put on a waiting list?
To be put on a waiting list for a certain course, please contact the Distance Education department by phone on (02) 9351 7979 or by email. You will be contacted when/if a place becomes available.
How long do Distance Education courses run?
Each Distance Education program consists of ten modules lasting for ten months (one every month). The only exception is the Internal Medicine: A Problem Solving Approach program which consists of 8 modules over ten months.
What is the workload for Distance Education courses like?
Please read the course information if you are thinking of registering in Distance Education. This will give you an idea of how much time you should set aside to complete the monthly course requirements.
When are the Distance Education workshops held?
You will be contacted with the dates of the workshops once the course begins. There are usually two workshops that are held around June and November.
Where are the Distance Education workshops held?
The workshops are usually held in either Sydney or Melbourne.
What happens if I am unable to attend the workshop for my Distance Education course?
The workshops are not compulsory but it is recommended that you attend. In some cases your Distance Education coordinator will be able to send you notes from the workshop.
Do I lose my deposit if I register for a Distance Education course and then change my mind?
Yes. The deposit is non-refundable.
What happens if I cannot complete my payment for the course before the due date?
You will be required to contact the Centre for Veterinary Education immediately to make other arrangements.
What happens if I cannot complete the course before the end of the course year?
Depending on the tutor, you may still be able to submit assignments for assessment after the cut-off date for modules. If you do not complete all of your modules, you will not receive your Certificate of Completion.
I live/work overseas. Can I do a Distance Education Program while overseas?
Yes, the modules will be posted to you and available to download online each month.
What is an early bird discount?
An early bird discount applies when veterinarians register and fully pay for a course by the end of June,
saving you $500 (Early Bird Option 1) or by the end of October, saving you $200 (Early Bird Option 2)
What is the due date for full course payment?
Full payment for the Distance Education Programs must be received by 1 December in the year prior to the course commencement.
What is the closing date for receiving registrations?
The closing date for registration of a Distance Education Program is 1 December 2008. Depending on availability, some courses may accept registrations after this date.
