Q. How do I obtain access to the VetMed Resource database?
A. If your membership is eligible, your access will be directly available when you sign into your account. Otherwise log on directly to VetMed Resource when prompted with your CVE login from the CVE site. It is recommended that you use Firefox (available as a free download) to use VetMed Resource.

Q. Can I still access the Cab Abstracts and Medline through the CVE?
A The Ovid service is no longer accessible through the CVE website.

A1 Do I need to be a CVE member to participate in a DE course?
No, from 2010 those enrolling as Distance Education (DE) participants will receive complimentary electronic CVE membership.

A2 Do I obtain a degree qualification at the completion of a Distance Education course?
The Distance Education courses are structured CPD courses and do not count towards the completion of a university award course. The CVE is a RACE accredited oraganisation. Please contact us here for more information.

A3 How do I register for a Distance Education program?
To register for a Distance Education program, select your preferred course, making sure you read the course information first. It is very important that you make sure the requirements of the course suit you and that you have enough time to complete the course. To register follow the links from the course page.

A4 The course I would like to do is full. Can I be put on a waiting list?
To be put on a waiting list for a specific course, please contact the Distance Education department by phone on 02 9351 7979 or by email. You will then be contacted if/when a place becomes available.

A5 How long do Distance Education courses run?
Most Distance Education programs consists of ten modules running over ten months (one module per month). The Internal Medicine: A Problem Solving Approach program consists of eight modules run over ten months. All equine courses consist of five modules run over five months.

A6 What is the workload for Distance Education courses like?
Please read the course information if you are thinking of registering in Distance Education. This will give you an idea of how much time you should set aside to complete the monthly course requirements. The standard workload is approximately 8-10 hours per week.

A7 When and where are the Distance Education workshops held?
The workshop dates and locations vary from course to course. Please consult the course information brochures available from the links here.

A8 What happens if I am unable to attend the workshop/s for my Distance Education course?
The workshops are not compulsory but it is recommended that you attend. In some cases, your Distance Education coordinator will be able to send you notes from the workshop.

A9 What happens if I cannot complete the course before the end of the course year?
Deferral of DE courses is not possible. You must complete your course in the year that you start it.

A10 I live/work overseas. Can I do a Distance Education program while overseas?
Yes, the modules will be posted to you and available to download online each month.

A11 What is an early bird discount?
An early bird discount applies when a participant registers and fully pays for a course by the end of June, (Early Bird Option 1) or by the end of October, (Early Bird Option 2).

A12 Do I lose my deposit if I register for a Distance Education course and then change my mind?
Yes. The deposit is non-refundable. Please consult our cancellation policy for more details.

A13 What is the final date for full course payment?
Full payment for the Distance Education programs must be received by 1 December in the year prior to course commencement.

A14 What happens if I cannot complete my payment for the course before the due date?
You will be required to contact the Centre for Veterinary Education immediately to make other arrangements.

A15 What is the closing date for registration?
The closing date for registration of a Distance Education program is 1 December in the year prior to course commencement. Download the registration form here.
