Greg Burton
BVSc MACVSc (Surgery) FACVSc (Dermatology)
Dr Greg Burton graduated from the University of Queensland in 1983. Greg completed his three-year residency in Dermatology and became a Fellow of the College in Veterinary Dermatology in 1997. Since 1999 Greg has been a director of the Skin, Ear and Allergy Service at the Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre. Since 2002, he has been the Principle Fellow in Dermatology at the University of Melbourne and is responsible for dermatology in the veterinary faculty.

Mandy Burrows
BVMS MACVSc FACVSc Vet Dermatology
Dr Mandy Burrows is a registered specialist, consultant and lecturer in veterinary dermatology at Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital, Western Australia and teaches in the distance education course at Massey University, New Zealand. She lectures in dermatology at both national and international scientific meetings. Mandy is currently the Assistant Chief Examiner and serves on the Board of Examiners of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, the Board of the Journal of Veterinary Dermatology and is the Oceanic representative for the World Veterinary Dermatology Association.

David Church
BVSc PhD MACVSc MRCVS
Professor David Church graduated with a BVSc from the University of Sydney in 1975. After graduating he was appointed as a small animal clinical instructor there, and enrolled in a PhD program in the Faculty of Medicine looking at various aspects of the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus. After completing this in 1983 he was appointed as Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at the University of Sydney, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1991 and Associate Professor in 1999. David obtained membership (small animal medicine) of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 1990, and was Hospital Director of the University Veterinary Centre from 1991 until his departure in 2001 to take up the Chair of Small Animal Studies at the Royal Veterinary College. Soon after his arrival at the College, the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and the Department of Farm Animal and Equine Medicine and Surgery merged to form the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. David was head of the new department until August 2009, and has recently been appointed Vice Principal (Academic and Clinical Affairs) at the Royal Veterinary College. He is looking forward to the challenges this new position presents. David is the author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters, and joint editor of the soon-to-be-released textbook Small Animal Clinical Pharmacology. He recently received the Betts Prize alongside Lynne Hill for establishing VCS and the QMH as a powerhouse of veterinary clinical service, training and education.

Richard Gowan
BVSc (Hons) MACVSc (Feline Medicine) CMAVA
Dr Richard Gowan graduated in 1998 and soon found his way into feline only practice. He spent six years working at the Creek Road Cat Clinic in Brisbane with Dr. Vic Menrath. It was here and from Vic that he developed his passion for general feline practice and in particular preventative medicine & geriatric patient care. He gained his Membership of the Australian College in Feline Medicine in 2003. In 2005, he moved to Melbourne and started The Cat Clinic in Prahran. He runs the 3 Vet practice with his partner Amy Lingard who is sitting her Fellowship exams in Feline Medicine this year. Richard’s goals are to promote the profile of feline medicine in general practice.

Hall Griffin
DVM President, IMEX Veterinary, Inc
IMEX™ Veterinary, Inc. was founded in 1989 to provide the veterinary surgeon with new product innovations related to intramedullary and external skeletal fixation.

Dr Griffin has coordinated all continuing education and product evaluations in addition to being involved in excess of 50 external fixation courses.

As president, Dr Griffin provides veterinary practitioners with surgical consultations on a daily basis.

Peter B Hill

Dr Peter Hill graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1986 and has undertaken residency and tenure at the Universities of Wisconsin-Madison, Edinburgh and Bristol combining clinical, teaching and research activities. He currently works at the Veterinary Specialist Centre in North Ryde. Peter is the only veterinary dermatologist in the world to have been board certified in the UK, Europe and the USA as well as having a PhD.

Arthur House
BSc BVMS PhD Cert SAS Dip ECVS MRCVS
Dr Arthur House graduated from Murdoch University in 1994. Whilst in general practice Arthur achieved a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. In 2000 he began a residency in surgery at the Royal Veterinary College London. In 2004 Arthur successfully became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Following his surgical training Arthur joined a research group investigating Anal Furunculosis in GSDs and was awarded a PhD in 2008. In 2007 Arthur was awarded a position as a lecturer in Small Animal Surgery at the Royal Veterinary College. In July 2009 Arthur returned home to Australia and now works at the Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre.

Peter Laverty
BVSc MACVSc Diplomate ACVS (Small Animal Surgery)
Dr Peter Laverty graduated from Melbourne University with an honours degree in 1985. After ten years in general small animal practice in Melbourne, he pursued specialist surgical training in the United States. He completed a Small Animal Internship at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Dr Laverty went on to complete a Small Animal Surgical Residency at the Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Indiana. While at Purdue, Peter became an integral part of the team at the Centre for Paralysis Research. This allowed him to pursue his interest in spinal cord injury and to develop expertise in neurosurgery. In 2002 Dr Laverty was awarded Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Pete contributes to both undergraduate and postgraduate training. He is an active participant in further education as a key speaker at conferences and seminars. Pete has published numerous articles including original research, case reports and literature reviews. Pete operates his surgical practice at the Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre in Glen Waverley, Victoria where he routinely performs orthopaedic, soft tissue and neurosurgical procedures.

Beth McDonald
BVSc(Hons) MVetClinStud MACVSc (Small Animal Medicine) DACVD
Dr Beth McDonald graduated from the University of Sydney in 1988. For six years, she worked at the North Shore Veterinary Hospital, during which she completed her Masters in Veterinary Clinical Studies through Murdoch University and gained her MACVSc. In 1995 she began a residency at the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. In 1998, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatologists. Since then, Beth has worked as a specialist in Veterinary Dermatology, with interesting management of allergic patients, demodicosis and immune mediated disease.

Jill MaddisonJill Maddison
BVSc Dip Vet Clin Stud PhD FACVSc
Jill graduated from the University of Sydney in 1978. She completed an internship at the University of Sydney in 1979, spent 18 months in full time private practice, and then completed a residency in small animal medicine at the University of Guelph, Canada. She returned to Australia and completed a PhD on the neurochemistry of hepatic encephalopathy at the University of Sydney. She was a senior tutor and clinician in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences from 1987, and from 1990-2000, was a senior lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology. During this time she also worked in general and specialist veterinary practice and was a consultant for a veterinary clinical pathology lab. In 2000 she became the Director of the Veterinary Science Foundation at the University of Sydney. Jill moved to the United Kingdom with her family in April 2001. From 2002 she was a veterinary clinician and lecturer at the Royal Veterinary College, London, based at the college's first opinion practice, the Beaumont Animals' Hospital, and a Fellow at Girton College, Cambridge where she tutored in pharmacology. In September 2005 she became the director of professional development and head of the CPD Unit at the RVC-this unit coordinates the continuing education courses offered to practitioners by the RVC. Her particular areas of interest are problem-based clinical reasoning in small animal medicine and clinical pharmacology. She is the senior editor of Small Animal Clinical Pharmacology, the 2nd edition of which was published in 2008.

Richard Malik
DVSc DipVetAn MvetClinStud PhD FACVSc FASM
Richard graduated from the University of Sydney in 1981. He is currently the Valentine Charlton Specialist at the Centre for Veterinary Education. Richard passed his FACVSc in Medicine of Cats in 1991 and is a registered specialist in feline medicine and small animal medicine. Although interested in all facets of small animal medicine, he is particularly interested in infectious diseases, neurology, cardiology and genetically transmitted diseases.

Reg Pascoe
BVSc MVSc FRCVS FACVSc DVSc
A world renowned equine surgeon and dermatologist, Dr Reg Pascoe graduated from the University of Queensland in 1951, completing his fellowship with the Royal College London (1973), Australian College of Vet Scientists (1975) and gaining his Doctorate in Vet Science (1984). He founded the Oakey Veterinary Hospital in 1952, specialising in equine practice from 1966. Reg has published over 70 referred articles and is the author of five texts on Equine Dermatoses. He has held positions with the AVA, AEVA and ACVSc throughout his career and received distinguished awards including the Gilruth Prize (1986), T.G. Hungerford Award (1987), Order of Australia (1987) and EVA Award (2008).

David Robson
BVSc(Hons) MACVSc (Canine Medicine) FACVSc (Dermatology)
Graduating from the University of Queensland in 1992, Dr David Robson spent over a decade in dermatology referral practice with the Animal Skin Ear and Allergy Clinic, Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre. He gained his ACVSc Fellowship 2005 and is a foundation member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists Dermatology Chapter. He has practiced clinical dermatology, published and lectured both in Australia and overseas.

Jim Toombs
DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS
Dr James P Toombs is currently the Donn E and Beth M Bacon Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He was Chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at ISU from 2003 to 2008. Dr Toombs received a BA in general science from the University of Iowa in 1972, his DVM from the University of Illinois in 1976, and a MS in surgery from the University of Minnesota in 1980. He completed a small animal internship and residency training in small animal surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr Toombs is board certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and has served on the Examination Committee for both the ACVS and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. He was a small animal orthopaedic surgeon at the University of Georgia for seven years and at Purdue University for 16 years before going to Iowa State. At Purdue, he was the Section Head of Small Animal Surgery and the Small Animal Chief-of-Staff. His areas of interest include bone grafts and implants, orthopaedic fixation devices, external skeletal fixation materials and techniques, and treatment of spinal cord injury. He was awarded the Spinal Cord Society Research Medal in 1989. He has published 55 papers in professional journals, three textbooks, and has contributed chapters to numerous additional textbooks. He has given over 100 invited presentations internationally, over 200 invited presentations at national meetings, and numerous additional presentations at regional, state, and local meetings. He has been most frequently asked to speak on topics related to external skeletal fixation.

Linda Vogelnest
BVSc(Hons) MACVSc (Feline Medicine) FACVSc (Dermatology)
Dr Linda Vogelnest is a registered specialist Veterinary Dermatologist, seeing small, large and exotic animal dermatology cases at the University of Sydney, where she has worked for over 20 years. Linda graduated from Sydney University in 1984, and worked in small animal practice in Australia and UK for 10 years before following a long-time interest in Dermatology. Linda completed a Dermatology Residency Program in 2001, passing specialist examinations in 2003.

Sarah Webb
BVSc (Hons) MACVS
Sarah WebbDr Sarah Webb runs a specialist small animal surgical practice at Gungahlin Veterinary Hospital in Canberra. She graduated in 1976 with Honours from the University of Queensland and then worked in small animal practice for three years before doing an internship in small animal medicine followed by a residency in small animal surgery, also at the University of Queensland. In 1986 she moved to Canberra and started a small animal referral surgical practice before finally relocating to the new purpose built Gungahlin Veterinary Hospital in 2002. Sarah was also elected as president of the University of Sydney Centre for Veterinary Education in May 2008.

Wing Tip Wong
DVM MVS MACVSc (Surgery)
Dr Wing Tip Wong has spent most of his time as a clinician and teacher. He worked for several years in private practice in Malaysia and returned to the University of Melbourne in 1988 to work at the Veterinary Clinic and Hospital. From 1999 he spent 14 months as staff surgeon in private referral practice. Currently he is consultant surgeon (orthopaedics and neurosurgery) in the Veterinary Clinic and Hospital as well as senior fellow in the Department of Veterinary Science, University of Melbourne.
