Technical Requirements
CVE online courses have fairly simple technical requirements.
These requirements will help you access the various multimedia applications that are part of the course (Adobe PDF reader, Apple QuickTime player and Microsoft Word).
You need access to the Internet to complete the online courses.
You can use either a PC or a Mac to complete the course. Most ‘newish’ PCs and Macs will easily satisfy the minimum hardware requirements for the course. The specific hardware requirements depend on the actual programs being run.
Software requirements
You will need the following programs to access the course material and the CVE website:
- Browsers and logging in
The online component can be completed using a free Internet browser (recent version). We recommend Firefox, available as a free download.
Please ensure your browser is not too dated, particularly Internet Explorer (also available as a free download) and enable cookies:
- in Firefox (Tools > Options > Privacy > Exceptions > type URL http://www.cve.edu.au > Allow > Close > OK.
- in Internet Explorer (Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites > type URL http://www.cve.edu.au > Allow > OK, OK. - Adobe Acrobat Reader
This program will enable you to read the course notes, CVe-library items and other pdf files on this site. Download the latest version of the reader free from Adobe. - Apple QuickTime Player
This program will be used to view the video files included with your notes. Download the free Apple QuickTime player here. - Microsoft Word or Open Office
You need either of these programs to complete your assignments. Microsoft Word is not a free program. If you do not have Microsoft Word or a compatible program, you can download Open Office which is a free program similar to Microsoft Office.
