Rosanne holds qualifications in veterinary science, research, higher education and management and is a former Dean of the Sydney School of Veterinary Science 2009-2017. Her veterinary career started in rural mixed veterinary practice, she completed a large animal internship, then a PhD on treatment of canine fucosidosis. She was Animal Welfare Branch Manager (job-sharing), NSW Department of Agriculture, during implementation of Animal Research regulations. Rosanne trialled gene and stem cell therapy for neurological disease as a Kleberg postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and returned to Sydney University to teach animal bioscience and physiology. She received two Vice Chancellor’s teaching awards. Under her leadership, Veterinary Science at Sydney University celebrated its centenary, increased in research quality and disciplinary rankings, expanded clinical programs, and introduced a postgraduate veterinary program (BVB/DVM). Rosanne supervised more than 60 honours and higher degree students working on breed-related disease in dogs and veterinary student learning. Rosanne is a past Chair of Veterinary Schools of Australia and New Zealand and past AAVMC board member. Currently she is an education consultant, cochair of the AAVMC Competency Based Veterinary Education Advocacy group and is leading the AVBC’s review of accreditation standards. Rosanne is the co-chair of the Veterinary Schools Accreditation Advisory Committee of AVBC.
