Yuanshuo Karen Gao
BVSc, MANZCVS (Poultry)
Karen graduated from the University of Sydney in 2014 and she has been working in the Australian poultry industry ever since. She is currently undergoing her PhD candidature on Spotty Liver Disease epidemiology, while working part-time as a consulting poultry veterinarian. She has worked with a range of commercial poultry species, from egg layers, broiler chickens, ducks, quails to occasional fancy birds. She passed her membership exam for the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Avian Heath (Poultry) Chapter in 2021. In order to not lose her small animal skills completely, she enjoys doing work-ups (with helps from ‘true’ small animal vets of course) on her 4 legged Labrador daughter/sister, Tails. Over the years, Karen has found flower arrangement to be rather enjoyable and calming, which has helped her navigate through the craziness comes with working and studying.
