Claire Sharp

Claire is an Associate Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine, School of Veterinary and Life Sciences. She did her veterinary training at Murdoch, graduating with a BSc, BVMS(Hons), in 2002. After a few years in private general and emergency practice in Canberra Claire moved to the United States to pursue her specialty training. She did a Rotating Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Oklahoma State University (2004-2005), followed by a Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Internship at the University of Missouri (2005-2006).
Claire then stayed on at the University of Missouri to complete her Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Residency and a Masters degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences (2006-2009). Thereafter she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and took a faculty position at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, Massachusetts where she worked from 2009-2015. Claire returned to Murdoch for an academic position in July 2015.
Claire is the Section Head of emergency and critical are at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University, where she oversees the clinical service, teaches students, interns and residents, and does research into various ECC conditions.
