Canine Heart Failure: ER's First 12 Hours WebinarLIVE!
This lecture, with emergency and critical care specialist Dr Ava Tan, will briefly review the physiology of congestive heart failure (CHF) with a main focus on mitral valve disease.

We will move on to discuss the usefulness of bedside point of care ultrasound in narrowing down the differentials of respiratory distress to CHF. In detail, we cover the doses and physiology behind the therapies used in the initial management of CHF- sedation, diuretics (including furosemide CRI), pimobendan and how to assess for patient response.

We’ll also briefly discuss an approach for the challenging CHF patient who is rapidly deteriorating.

Finally, we will take a closer look at discharge medications and the timelines for repeating diagnostics after stabilization of the CHF patient.

Learning objectives:
How to quickly diagnose CHF within the 1st 15-20 minutes
What doses of drugs can I use to manage CHF?
What to consider if the patient is not responding to routine treatments?
